Its been awhile since my last update, I apologize for that, time just seems to slip away too quickly. We spent the 4th of July as a family until Alex threw his back out picking Addison up (either he's getting old or she's eating too many oatmeal cream pies!) Alex could barely walk so we got him comfy on the couch at home and then headed over to our friends pool party.

Addison and I were having so much fun that an hour into the party we convinced daddy to take some pain killers and join us. Even though he sat in the same lawn chair the whole time, he had fun and it was great to spend that time as a family. Addison swam around the whole pool again and again with her friend little friend Wrigley. She was in a floaty with leg openings so she wouldn't slip through but she loved the freedom she had! She was belly laughing the whole time trying to catch up to her friend. She got pretty darn good at kicking her little legs by the end of it!
At dusk the party guests started setting off a bunch of fireworks in the backyard and Addison for the record was NOT a fan. She was absolutely petrified and only wanted Daddy to hold her. The city of Queen Creek has a festival and fireworks show at a local farm every 4th but it is $10 a car for admission not to mention a madhouse, so luckily enough the party we went to was in great viewing distance from the show and far enough away that the "BOOMs" weren't too loud. Addison enjoyed the display but not as much as I had imagined. I thought she would have been mesmerized but she was more interested in eating her cookie :)

Lately I have been caring for my friends daughter Bryar who is just 2 months older than Addison. This morning Bryar came over at 6:30 and kept asking "Addi asleep? Addi asleep?" Since I am SO boring to hang out with, we finally went to wake Miss Addison up at 7:45 and they both lit up when they saw each other! Immediate squealing and spazing out commenced, followed by 3 more hours of the same :) They love each other so much and rarely act out when they are together, it is just so cute to watch them. I think my favorite today was when they held hands to dance or when they both found a pair of my platform shoes (and we are talking 4" platforms!) and decided to put them on and parade around the house. It was the funniest looking thing, the shoes were as big as them!

Addison and I have met so many wonderful mommies and babies through our playgroups and I just want to say how thankful I am for each of them, their support and love is unparalleled.
Our mommy friend Taylor and her family are renting a cabin in Pinetop (about 3 hours north of the valley) and invited us and some of our other play friends for an overnight destination meetup! We had SUCH a blast!
We drove up on Thursday morning with our friends Missy and baby Kylie, arrived in Pine at about noon and immediately took advantage of the cooler weather, playing outside and walking with the kiddos. All total there were 6 mamas and 6 kiddos, it was a circus but a very entertaining one! The kids all got along awesome, we each had our own room to get a good nights sleep and once the kiddos were down for the night us mamas brought the party out ;) We played games (if you know me you KNOW how much I LOVE games!), drank margaritas and sat by the fire and had girl talk and husband bashing...ok ok not really bashing but we got to complain about the little annoying things they all do :)
We headed back Friday afternoon and with the exception of construction that forced the road closed for about 20 minutes in the mountains, the trip went smoothly and way better than we could have expected! Thank you to Taylor for having us all up, we needed a getaway!

We took a leap of faith this past weekend and decided to go tent camping as a family. We took Addison camping last September but stayed in a cabin so we were a little spoiled! We were planning to do the cabin thing again but decided to try something different. We went and bought a family size tent, camping pots and pans, lantern, chairs and other fun stuff. Alex already had a lot of gear collected over the years from his days as a Boy Scout and Eagle Scout...I know I'm laughing too.
We got up early Saturday morning and were on the road by 10am. Packing up all our stuff and making our last minute stops brought back great memories of family vacations we took as a kid. We arrived in Flagstaff around 1pm, checked in and set up camp. Alex is amazingly handy and organized so it only took us about an hour until we were relaxing in our camp chairs! There was a playground on the grounds and within clear view of our site so every other second Addison was asking "slide? slide? wee? wee?" We spent the rest of Saturday checking out the grounds and planning the weekends activities. We laid Addison down around 7, in about 10 layers of clothes as it was, dare I say it, FREEZING! The huge wind gusts did not help the situation either. Alex and I didnt really think to bring any sort of padding or air mattress with us so we slept on the ground the first night, WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS!

Addison woke us up bright and early at 5:30am, darn early sunrise! Her little hands were like icicles so we all snuggled under the blankets for a while trying to warm up. Finally Addison and I loaded into the truck, blasted the heat and watched an episode of Elmo until we thawed out. It was about 40 when we woke up but quickly climbed to a more comfortable 60 or so once the sun was in full effect. We made a big breakfast and then headed out onto the trails in the woods behind the grounds, it reminded me so much of the midwest, I kept forgetting that we were still in fact in Arizona. After our trail walk we decided to check out downtown Flagstaff. SO our kind of place! We visited the Sunday morning farmers market which had some really neat stuff, walked around and looked in the various shops around town and then had a nice lunch at a little pizzeria. By this time it was only 11:30 but we felt like we had been up for days. Between sleeping on the ground and Addison's early morning wake up, we were ready to crash but still had much more to check out. There is an indoor aquaplex about 3 miles from the campground and we thought it would be a great way for Addison to burn off some energy and for all of us to warm up a little bit. The aquaplex had a zero depth pool, lazy river, hot tub and water slides, it was really a pretty neat place. Unfortunately Addison had an Academy Award winning meltdown after about an hour so we packed up and went back to camp. We spent the rest of the day relaxing, playing at the playground and doing some more walking and exploring. Oh and I also made Alex run to the nearest Walmart and pick us up an air mattress.

Monday morning we all "slept in" until about 6:30 and let me tell you the air mattress was SO worth it! We had a leisurely morning of coffee drinking and eating and then packed up camp to head back to Phoenix. Alex had seen that Snowbowl (the ski resort in Flag) has a summer chairlift ride to the top of the mountain and he wanted to check it out. I was a tad bit (A LOT) nervous about taking Addison on the chairlift as she is a squirmy worm and doesnt really listen to anything we say...ever. We finally decided that it would be a shame not to experience it so we headed to the mountain. We were the first ones up to the top of Mount Humphreys after a 30 minute ride and Addison actually did a great job on the chairlift, she was fascinated looking around at all the trees and rock and even SNOW that was still on the ground! We explored the paths at the top of the mountain, took pictures and even let Addison play in a pile of snow! We made it back down safely and headed home after a fun and memorable weekend. We will definitely be heading up to Flag sometime again soon!

Yesterday Addison and I had a pool playdate with a new playgroup I joined called "Christian Mommies with Little Ones." The current members were all so welcoming and it turns out I already know a few people in the group! Funny how things work out like that!
The pool doesn't open until 10 but Addison and I got to the pool at 9:30 as we were running early which almost never happens! There was already a LINE and we were about 5 groups back. By the time 10am rolled around, the line was wrapped around the parking lot. People are CRAZY about pool time during the AZ summer! We managed to get a chair and stake out our area then into the pool we went. This aquatic center has a "zero depth" area for the kids to play in, the deepest it gets is 1' 6" which is perfect for Addison! She can have some independence and I can relax knowing if she goes under she isn't going far. Addison was SO excited to splash around and play with the other kids. Her favorite thing to do was go into the shallower area and put her arms down, almost like a push up and then let her feet float up to the top. She thought it was stinkin hilarious! She tripped a few times and went completely under, I was right there to pull her back up and was surprised that it didn't seem to phase her! Guess we have got to get this girl in swimming lessons!

Oh how i adore my goofball Addison. It has been tough with her lately, she has become so hard headed and stubborn that it makes my job as "mom" that much more difficult. We are encouraging her to "use her words" and oh how I hate that phrase! I swore I would NEVER use it, kind of like how I would NEVER put my child on a leash...HA! She got into a really bad habit of saying "eh eh eh!" whenever she wanted something even though she has the vocabulary to ask for what she wants. She still isn't putting more than two words together but she does have elaborate conversations with herself and with baby doll, I just wonder what is going through her little mind! My favorite Addison story as of late is today when I was taking her upstairs to bed, she all the sudden asked "Baby? baby?" I remembered that we had left baby in the car and being the awesome mom I am, I was feeling too lazy to walk all the way back downstairs and into the garage to get dolly. So I grabbed her other baby doll which was close by and handed it to her. She was NOT happy. She screamed "NO!" and threw baby. I rolled my eyes and chuckled to myself, quick ran out to the car and got her other baby and as soon as she saw it she lit up and gave dolly a big hug. So much for her not having any lovies that she has to take with her everywhere! Dolly is here to stay!

I laid Addison down for a nap about 20 minutes ago and she now insists on sleeping with her baby doll. That's in addition to baby sitting with her in her high chair, coming with on car rides, into stores and everywhere else we go. This particular dolly can also go in the bathtub but I wont let onto that until its my last card to play :) Anyways, Addison is still in there talking and playing with baby and sounds nowhere near ready to take a nap even though she is tired out! It just amazes me that 5 days ago she could have cared a less about her baby and then something clicked and now they are totally bff's!

Naked Time!

I woke up this morning to discover that my sweet daughter had taken off her diaper, thrown if out of the crib and was saying "uh oh uh oh ewwww" over and over again. I had to burst out laughing because she looked so ridiculous and cute with her bare little tush but now we have learned our lesson that Addison needs to wear shirts and pants to bed, not just a nightgown! Oh the wonderful joys of everyday life! And on that note, Addison has become obsessed lately with trying to take off her clothes...home, public places, it doesn't matter she's ready to strip anywhere! She has also started telling us when she goes poopy in her diaper which is awesome! She still wont sit on her potty for more than 2 seconds but I feel like we are making some progress at least :)
I cannot believe how much Add has started talking over the past few weeks. She is starting to form sentences and repeats as many words as she can figure out how to say. On the other hand when she doesn't have the words to express herself, I just get this high pitched shriek and fake crying. Today we took a trip to Hobby Lobby and she wanted in-out-in-out of the cart, then she wanted to touch everything she could reach (she only broke one thing though, doh!), then she grabbed a pillow and pretended to go night night time in the middle of the store. Needless to say, it is really hard to shop with her nowadays!
I love Addison and my days together and I love watching her grow but watching her grow up makes me so so sad inside.

I've been slacking on posts but not much has happened over the past month or so since we lost Dash. We have really been working on our family and spending quality time together.
Mothers day weekend was bittersweet, it is so wonderful to realize how much Addison has grown in the past year but at the same time our loss was so fresh that it was hard to have a completely celebratory day. My mom came down for the weekend and it was really nice to see her and have some fun for a change! My mom and her husband arrived the Friday of mothers day weekend and came to visit our house that night. Addison was a little cautious at first but after a few minutes she warmed right up to my mom and pretty much thought she was the greatest playmate ever! They colored, played peekaboo and were just plain squirrly, it was so cute to see :)
Saturday we visited them at their hotel in Scottsdale for some much needed relaxation. Daddy and Addison went swimming with MiMi and Addison's love of water was born! She loved floating with the noodles and by the end of our time she was jumping off the side of the pool into the water! My little dare devil! After the pool we went to my favorite little restaurant called "The Grape Vine." We used to go to Arizona as a family every year since I can remember to visit my grandparents. We would designate one day just to go to Old Town. Each of us kids got $20 to buy something fun at one of the shops and it was always the highlight of the trip. The Grape Vine was the restaurant that without fail we always had lunch at. I love that it is still around and still serving the worlds greatest lavosh! YUM! After lunch it was nap time for all and then off to the D-Backs game! We ended up scoring great box seats and Addison sat and cheered through ALL 9 INNINGS! She is such a little baseball fan! Even when we are at home, she likes to sit and watch the D-Backs play on tv...she is SO my kid :) We all wore our D-Backs jerseys like true fans and had such a fun time, even though they lost horribly!
Mothers day we went to brunch at Saddle Ranch in Scottsdale and it was fabulous! We enjoyed mimosas and I ordered this divine french toast which was on the house for mamas! What a great weekend!

Lately Addison has had her little friend Bryar coming over a few times a week to play while her mommy works. These girls are two peas in a pod and have a BLAST together. I just crack up even looking that them, they are so stinkin cute! We love you Miss Bryar, thank you for being our friend!

I want to take the time to thank you all for your overwhelming support and empathy during this horrible time for our family. We would like to share the story of Dash's birth with our close friends and family who follow our blog.This is kind of a detailed story just to warn you all but Dash was our son and the story of his birth deserves to be shared just like any other birth story...
As many of you know we went on a family trip to Seattle Wed 4/14. Just that Sunday we found out we were having a boy and Tuesday 4/13 I had a prenatal appointment and heartbeat was strong and I was healthy and measuring on schedule. I brought my fetal heart monitor along with us on the trip, I liked to listen to little one about once a week just to ease my nerves. Friday 4/16 I couldn't find his heartbeat, I was a little worried but I know they can "hide" and make it difficult to hear sometimes (even though I had always found the heartbeat right away). I tried to find his heartbeat Sat, Sun and Mon and still couldn't. We got back to Arizona Monday afternoon and I made an appointment first thing Tuesday morning with my doctor to make sure things were ok.
Tuesday Alex, Addison and I went into the dr's. 2 nurses tried to find the heartbeat but couldn't, they were naming off all kinds of reasons they may have not been able to find it and they got me in right away for an ultrasound "just to check." As soon as the ultrasound tech started I knew he was gone. There was no beautiful heart beating, he wasnt the active little dude we had seen a week before on the 3-D ultrasound, he was still. He was there and he was perfect but his heart had stopped beating. The dr came in to confirm that he had died and from there we talked about our options. I had had no symptoms and the dr told me it could be a few weeks before my body recognized the baby being gone and went into labor so we chose the induction and scheduled it for Wednesday 4/21.
My dad flew down Tuesday night and went with us to the hospital Wed morning. I had to be admitted into labor and delivery which was one of the hardest parts. My room was all set up for a beautiful, healthy baby to arrive but unfortunately we knew we wouldn't have that. They started me on a med to hopefully dilate and soften the cervix and start contractions. I think I cried pretty much all day, we met with preachers, social workers and friends and family came to see us. I really didn't want to see anyone but it was nice for Alex to have support. After 3 rounds of the cervical gel, it was 9pm and there was no progress. I hadn't slept in a few days so they started me on a different med that I could take orally and hopefully get some sleep. By morning still nothing had changed, it was absolute torture. I was started on a different stronger cervical pill which started to cause some noticeable changes by 11am 4/22. I still hadn't progressed much by 1pm so they gave me another round of it and as the symptoms started getting worse I got pain meds every hour which made me really sleepy so I dont remember the last few hours very well. I just remember feeling a lot of pressure. My water broke around 3 and at about 6pm the pressure was so bad that we called the dr in and it was time.
I had no idea what to expect but I think it was even worse than what I thought. I pushed a few times and Dash was born at 6:07pm. The nurse wrapped up baby Dash and gave him to us to hold and love. We spent 5 hours with him, praying, singing songs, crying, admiring how perfect he was. He was blessed by a friend of ours who is ordained and my dad was able to hold him, his grandson.
Dash had long beautiful fingers and tiny fingernails, toes, eyebrows, it was absolutely amazing, he really just looked like a small sleeping baby. Our amazing nurse Judy treated Dash with dignity and care and I will be forever grateful to her for that. She took him to the nursery to be weighed, measured and get his little footprints and handprints done. He weighed 2.9oz, 7" long. Judy brought him back in a little outfit and warm blanket and we held him some more. Finally around midnight we had the hospital call the funeral home to pick him up.
We picked up his cremains yesterday and although it was hard, I couldn't help feeling that as we left with them, our family was whole again although I know his spirit is with God in heaven. I have done so much spiritual examination of my life and I read a wonderful book given to us by one of the ministers entitiled "Safe in the arms of God." It is a book about miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss and answered so many of the questions I had like "Is my baby in heaven?" "Did my own sin somehow make God decide to take my child?" and "Will I ever see my baby again?" I am eternally grateful to Howard for sharing this book with our family. I feel like the most horrible chapter of this can come to a close now and we can think about the beautiful times we had with him, his ultrasounds, listening to his heartbeat and feeling him move in my belly.

I have been also looking into ways to memoralize Dash in a positive way and have found some great works that people who have also lost babies are doing for others. I am currently brainstorming ways to help others who have lost their little ones and look forward to turning my grief into something productive. Here is just one project that I received from a wonderful woman who lost her twin babies a few hours after birth. She truly has a giving heart!

We love you forever baby Dash (or Dashie as his big sis Addison calls him) You will live on in our hearts and the hearts of those who we love!

Tuesday, Addison and I went with some of our mommy and baby friends to Usery Mountain Park for a stroller friendly mile hike and then playtime at the playground after. Let me tell you, I am OUT OF SHAPE! I was expecting a flat, even trail but I was in for quite a surprise. There were inclines and curves..I was so not prepared with my flip flops and Starbucks! My lungs were burning about 5 minutes in but after we were done it felt great and the day was absolutely gorgeous! We let the kids play at the end of the trail playground for awhile and then we all had lunch under the ramada. A fun day was had by all!

Since when did my daughter start becoming a mini-me? Not saying its a bad thing but I definitely have to start watching what I do and say more closely! Addison loves to mirror everything I do right now. Her favorites to copy are hands on the hips, "cracking" her knuckles (yikes!), washing her hands, pretending to drink out of my coffee cup, finding and putting on her bracelets whenever I have any jewelry on and sitting exactly as I am. Its totally adorable and I laugh whenever she does it but there are certain things I do that I would rather she doesn't make a habit of i.e. cracking her knuckles. I wish I had video recording 24/7 to get all these cute moments on film!!

Easter Funday

This Easter was the first one in awhile that I really felt good about the day and felt a lot of love in my heart. I think it is because I finally got to spend it with my little family all in one place. Alex always seems to work holidays and it just isn't the same without him. Not this year though, we lucked out! We started off the day with a trip to a new church, "Saving Grace Lutheran" where we had a fabulous brunch, a fun Easter egg hunt and an entertaining service to say the least :) I wasn't thrilled with the format and I didn't know any of the songs, plus the music was provided by the church band that I truly believe thought they were ACDC or The Beatles. Aside from that, the people were all very nice and Addison had a blast!
We came home from church and took a little nap then headed off to the Paloza's house for an egg hunt with Addison and the triplets and a fabulous dinner that we weren't expecting! It was so fun to be able to spend the day with both friends and family and the weather was absolutely beautiful as well! Addison got lots of fun things from the Easter bunny and is most fond of her Elmo figurine, slinky (which she wears as a bracelet) and plastic high heels which she insists on having on most of the day! A good weekend was had by all!

What a fun week we have had! Alex got back from his weekend trip on Tuesday morning and we were SO excited to see him! He enjoyed a little break from reality and reliving his college days but now hes glad to be back with Addison and I and in the swing of things again.
Addison has had 3 straight days of playdates and has loved every minute of it! Thursday we had our first of two Easter dates and it was a blast. All the kids were dressed in their spring outfits, the weather was gorgeous so we all talked, ate and played outside. The kids dyed Easter eggs and decorated Easter cookies (I had to make more as I ate the first three we made haha. The moms were actually the most interested in the decorating and got pretty competitive with their designs ;) Some people are just so darn artistic!
Today we had an Egg hunt at a neighborhood park and it was one of the cutest stinkin things I've ever seen! We had a great turnout, about 20 mamas and kiddos (all about Addison's age) and everyone brought their Easter basket for the hunt! Me and another mom "hid" 150 eggs in the grassy field at the park and then let the kids at it. Most of them did REALLY well, I was so surprised! Addison had her basket on one arm and was picking up eggs left and right with the other. Unfortunately she then started taking the eggs out of her basket and putting them back in the grass! She'll learn soon enough that the eggs are filled with the good stuff!
I love this time of year. The weather is perfect and thoughts of spring and summer fun with friends is exciting. Bring on the 90 degree weather! We are ready!

Bathing Beauty

Ever since auntie Maggie came out to visit and us girls went to the pool, Addison and I have been going to the public pool once or twice a week. The weather has been funky and unpredictable otherwise we would probably be there every other day! The pool in our community is fun but Addison REALLY loves the zero depth public pools where she can go in and out as she pleases. I have such a great time with her. Mostly she lets me sit poolside and she runs along the beach entrance meeting little friends and splashing in the water. Lately though she has gotten braver and has ventured further out into the water. It only gets about 1 1/2 feet at the deepest point but I worry if she trips and tries to catch her fall that she will go under water and panic. She has wanted to explore the play structure a few times but only if I hold her hand and wade with her out there. I don't blame her either, there is water spraying from every which way and most of the bigger kids hang out on the play equipment. Next time we are going to bring Addison a bucket and some cups so that she has toys to play with in the water!

In other news, Addison officially turned 18 months yesterday. That is a huge deal in my mind. It just sounds so old! As of this month she is becoming very physical, i.e. climbing on everything, running, jumping and balancing in places that make my heart skip a beat! Thank goodness she hasn't attempted to climb out of her crib yet, I dont think I'm ready to put her in a big girl bed yet! Its amazing how much Addison knows and observes without us realizing it. This morning her hair was super messy so we decided to give her a bath. I got her all undressed and told her "ok we are going to take a bath Addison!" She went right out her bedroom door and ran down the hall with her little naked butt right into the bathroom and tried to climb in the tub. Even though she can't say everything she wants, she definitely knows what things are! I was thinking today about which words Addison says on a regular basis and the ones I can think of are:
-Up
-Down
-On
-Off
-Open
-Please
-Dada
-No!
-More
-Juice
-Shoes
-Whats that (comes out as "was at" but she says it when she wants to know what something is)
-Ewwww (when we change her diaper haha)

Just in the past few days I have been teaching her how to say her name and she says it really well! But only when I ask her to and only if she feels like it...go figure!

Missing Child

If anyone has seen the Addison that lived here about a month ago I would greatly appreciate having her back! This new Addison is not quite the angel I had and her 'tude is really starting to get on my nerves.
I've seen a gradual change in Addison and knew that the terrible twos were just around the corner but I'm pretty sure they are here and plan to stay for awhile. Nowadays Addison acts like she doesn't need Alex or I, except of course when she wants to be carried down the stairs (even though she has been doing it herself for months) and when she wants something, which is about 90% of the time. She has decided that her words are a thing of the past and "eh eh eh!" paired with pointing and tears is the way to get everything her heart desires....WRONG. I know what she is capable of and what words she is able to say so when she whines to get these things I really have very little sympathy.
Yesterday morning, Alex slept in and Addison and I were playing downstairs and eating breakfast. When Alex woke up he asked me "What on earth was Addison screaming and crying for this morning?!?" And I had to explain to him that it was simply the fact that she wanted me to wear a headband on my head and I was sick of the game and told her all done...yes that is what sent her into a 15 minute crying fit. This morning's tantrum was the result of my telling her we weren't going to be putting lotion on right now and then putting the bottle out of her reach. She had an absolute fit!
Please someone tell me that this ends and that I will get my sweet daughter back. I am trying to be understanding but sometimes that can only go so far. Like today when she came up and hit me square in the face with a waterbottle, then laughed her head off even as I gave her a firm "NO!" and put her on the stair for a "time out"...she came back 10 seconds later and did the same thing, laughing harder than ever.
I love her, I really do, but sometimes kids make it very hard :)

On a more positive note, my sister Maggie came to visit last week and us girls had such a blast! Maggie got Addison out of bed, dressed and fed almost every morning so I could slowly drag myself out of bed. We went to the petting zoo, pool (which Addison LOVES), mall and my grandmas house and had just the best time doing it! Below are our latest pictures detailing the ups and downs of our crazy life...

Weekend with Grandma Laura!

We are sad to say that Grandma Laura left last night but we had a fabulous time with her!! Saturday night around 8 Alex and Addison made the trek to the airport at to pick her up, I unfortunately had to work but I got home just in time to do some last minute picking up before I heard the Jeep pull up. Grandma had given Addison a stuffed ducky on the way home so she already passed the Grandma test before even getting to our house! Addison was in great spirits and took right to Grandma. Needless to say everyone was wiped out and Addison even slept in until 9AM on Sunday morning!
We woke up to rain on Sunday morning which was a huge bummer. We decided to head to Superstition Springs Mall which has a great indoor play area for kids. Addison marched right to the slide and proceeded to go down it about a zillion times, pushing big kids out of her way and everything :) After burning off some energy there we headed over to the Cheesecake Factory. We were letting Addison walk on her own a few steps ahead of us and she was doing really well until she spotted the Merry-Go-Round. All the sudden she took off pointing, yelling and signing please please!, running into people and completely focused on the prize. I ran after her and dang is she fast! Once she got up to it she was ready to scale the fence and let herself in. It was hilarious because we have come to this mall plenty of times and she has never shown interest in it. Daddy took her on (those things just make me nauseous) while grandma and I snapped pictures. She was so THRILLED the entire time, although halfway through she did want to switch ponies, I dont think hers was going up and down fast enough. When we finally dragged her away and into the Cheesecake Factory she was tired and loopy, she spent the entire meal standing next to me in the booth, banging utensils on the table, throwing sugar packets and washing her hands in our water...needless to say it wasn't the most enjoyable meal but it was quite entertaining, my favorite part was how mortified Alex was!

Monday brought more rain and coooooooold. We decided to take Addison to a place called "Toy Town." It is an indoor play village for kids and pretty much my dream as a child! The place is filled with little wood houses that contain toys and dress up pertaining to what each house is i.e. hospital, firehouse, Dominos, tea party etc. It was so stinkin cute! Addison spent the majority of her time in and out of the little Cozy Coupe car, I guess I'll have to put that on my list of things to get her. I had been thinking about getting Addison a table and chairs for her meals as she doesnt like her high chair and we were right by IKEA so we headed over there after Toy Town. We had a yummy lunch in the IKEA cafeteria and ended up finding all sorts of goodies which we probably didn't need but it's IKEA and stuff is so cheap! We ended up walking out with a table and 2 chairs for Add, a step stool so Addison can reach the sink, plastic utensils, plates and bowls for you guessed it...Addison!

Tuesday was Grandmas last day here and it started off nice weather wise. Addison helped her pick weeds in the front yard and they were just tooooo cute. Addison was also grooving to grandmas music on her wireless headphones, well when she wasn't trying to wear them as sunglasses haha. We made a trip to Kohls as Laura is a savvy shopper and had a 30% off coupon! We found all sorts of fun stuff and at Kohls most things are on sale all the time anyways so we walked out with over $100 worth of stuff for $45. Addison got some badass light up shoes, an Elmo potty book, Elmo and Zoe juice cups and a camping chair with Toy Story characters! I'm thinking these will be Easter surprises :) As the sun was still out we made our way to San Tan Village to play in the outdoor play area and just as we pulled up it started getting really cold and windy. Within 10 minutes it was raining so we grabbed some cover and lunch at Paradise Bakery. We made it back in the car just in time for the clouds to open up and dump a ridiculous amount of rain! Around 4 it was time to say goodbye to Grandma, Addison really wanted to go to the airport and was crying trying to get into the car. She gave Grandma a smooch goodbye and we waved them off.

I have been slacking BIG TIME on this blog thing, I do apologize! We are down 3/3 computers...Two are on life support and one is beyond repair. It's all Alex's fault really, his MAC had bad karma and when it went down it took the other laptops with it...ho hum such is life, its starting to feel like the early 90's around here :)
Addison is fabulous. She has been sick on and off for about 2 weeks but seems to be doing better now, just a big boogie every now and then, didn't slow her down one bit though. We are looking forward to this weekend when Alex's mom will be in town! We were expecting her last weekend but somehow screwed up the dates and only realized the morning of her supposed arrival that it wasn't until this coming weekend! Attention to details, not one of our strong suits!
We are hoping the weather will be nice, it has been rainy the past few weeks, which we LOVE, but not fun for company!!! I'm sure we will take ions of pictures this weekend of Addison and Grandma Laura and I promise to be better about blogging!

Today Addison and I went with our playgroup friends to "Bounce U" which is a facility with huge bounce houses, slides etc. All the kids were a bit cautious at first but by the end they were literally bouncing off the walls :) Us moms got quite a bit of exercise too as the kids favorite thing was our bouncing them up and down...of course. My dad was in town last week for business and came over on his night off to see our house and play with Miss Addison. She wasn't thrilled for about the first hour, she screamed whenever I left her in the room alone with him. She is very wary of strangers, especially men. She was not about to let her guard down but then Papi shared a bite of his dinner with her and it was all over from there. She swooped down on him like a vulture and they were best buds after that! It is so cool to see her with her grandparents, gives me a glimpse into how they played with me when I was little and it gives me happy feelings inside :)

In other news, Addison's new favorite thing is to climb up on the sofa and "jump jump jump!" Jump coincidentally is one of her favorite words to repeat over and over and OVER again. She is really becoming a mover and a shaker and I find myself drinking significantly more coffee in the morning just to keep up with her, I guess the 14 hours of sleep she gets at night could be to blame :)

No no, I didn't have an Elmo themed party for my birthday, bummer! That would have been pretty sweet. Actually, today is Garrett, Taryn and Brooke's 2nd birthday, they are the dear triplets that I nanny for on the weekend.
They invited Addison and I over today for their Elmo birthday party! We were 2 of only 4 exclusive guests there so we felt pretty special! Addison was so excited to be included in her friends special day and I am so thankful that she has such wonderful friends, 2 surrogate sisters and a brother really. They have grown up together and I look forward to watching them grow together in the future.
Ok enough sentimental stuff ;) The kids all had lunch together, opened presents (Addison was VERY helpful with this), ran around in their matching Elmo shirts and ate a delicious Elmo cake! It was a wonderful day had by all!

New experiences

The end of last week was even busier than the beginning! Thursday we went to Addison's friend Savannah's house for a potluck playdate and Addison got to try a "bounce house" for the first time. I was really surprised when she was petrified of it. I thought it would be right up her alley but I think it was a little intimidating for her. She preferred to push the dolly stroller around and carry around her friend Noah's spiderman lunch box :)
Friday morning we went to the mall with Ashley and my two godsons Kaelam and Tyner. We did a little shopping before Addison and Kaelam spotted the play area and then it was all over. Kaelam is 2 and Addison has grown up playing with him so he is pretty excited that she runs around and interacts now :) They had fun chasing eachother and going down the slide. Friday afternoon we visited Lisa (I used to nanny for her twins) and we got to meet the new addition to their family, baby Ryder. He was exactly a week old and slept in my arms the whole visit, I miss that smell of a new baby and an innocence that only a newborn has. He is perfect and we are so thrilled for their family! After that we went to visit the other triplet kiddos that I used to watch and at 3 1/2 all three girls are cute as buttons! The girls got a trampoline for Christmas and after the bounce house incident I was wary of letting Addison try it but this time I went in with her and I have never heard that little girl laugh SO hard. I was bouncing her and Alli around and she was belly laughing. Adorable! I think we may need to add that to our backyard when we landscape, fun for the whole family! After draggin her out of there, Addison played dress up with the girls and was litterally bouncing of the walls she was having so much fun. I think the triplets were a bit overwhelmed with this baby coming in and touchnig all of their toys but they were very sweet to her and included her in their play :)
This week is a bit more low key, only a few playdates and hopefully some relaxing!

I have been busy all week busing Addison to her social obligations, now I know how soccer moms feel! Monday we had a park playdate with a friend of mine from school, Tuesday was a playdate at the San Tan Mall play area and then lunch with all of our play friends and today we had a lovely afternoon at the park with my girlfriend Jessica.
Biggest news of the week is that none of Addison's play shoes fit anymore so we went over to Kohls and picked her out a brand new pair of kickass Vans, biggest shocker was that she is a size 6! I absolutely cannot believe it, they were sitting next to her previous play shoes and absolutely dwarfed them :( Addison is quite proud of her new kicks and wants to wear them ALL day...reminds me of when I was a kid and would constantly wear my new shoes until my parents forced me to take them off...My mom and I still laugh about when I was 5 and my grandpa bought me new shoes and I slept with them the first few nights haha :)
Addison's newest tricks:
-Running away from me whenever we are out in public, she is usually laughing so hard that she falls over and I can catch up to her but it is seriously tiring!
-Every animal is "doggie," we are trying to start deciphering between the different animals with her but she doesn't quite get it yet
-She pretty much has to watch a DVD while she rides in the car now, I have created a MONSTER!
-She is starting to play with her little friends, SO cute
-Goes down slides all by herself and lands on her feet!

We also joined the library yesterday and Addison had a blast exploring the kids area, as did I as that is where they hide the Harry Potter audiobooks :D

Addison had QUITE the New Years celebration with her homies yesterday! We went to a playgroup party entitled "Countdown til Noon" The babies played and then we dressed them up in beads, crowns and hats and counted down the new year at noon, it was so super cute. Shout out to Grandma Laura who made her the super awesome shirt she is wearing in the pictures! Addison's favorite part of the day was the celebratory cupcakes at the end, she ate almost the entire thing and kept saying "num num num num!"
I was so proud of Addison too as there was a new mommy and 2 month old baby who joined the group and Addison was so gentle and fascinated with the little guy, it was so cute! She is going to make a wonderful big sister someday! Much love and Happy New Year from Arizona!

Christmas and growing up

Wow I'm slacking! Sorry to all of Addison's loyal fans, she is just appalled that I haven't updated :) We spent Christmas here in Arizona this year as a nuclear family...unfortunately the whole house has been sick with colds, tummy bugs etc for the past 2 weeks so we spent most of Christmas eve and Christmas day laying around and relaxing which I guess really is one of the best ways to spend it! It was nice enough out to take a nice long walk and even the two big idiots (aka the dogs) got to tag along which they thought was pretty much the greatest thing EVER. We now know why we rarely take them on walks though, their feet hit the pavement and they go bonkers! Addison thought it was great entertainment though and we didn't hear a peep out of her the whole time. Addison got a lot of presents this year but what was cool was that each one was really thoughtful and something that she will definintely get a lot of use and loving out of!

As of late Addison has been growing up way too fast for my liking and I'm starting to really wish there was in fact a pause button for life. She has a great sense of humor and is a really good playmate...her favorite little friend is Jezzie our cat. Jezzie greets Addison every single morning when I change her morning diaper and tags along at her heels most of the day waiting for Addison to play with her...well playing is Addison grabing her tail and pokeing her in the eyes but she does it with love! Here are some other Addison "stats:"
-She likes to "march" not just walk
-She wears my underwear on her head, like this happens almost daily, so strange, I dont even know where she gets it!
-She walks around the house with a tissue and pretends to blow her nose
-She says:

-She often pretends to suffer from baby narcolepsy...like today at the grocery store she told me "night night!" then laid her head down on the bar of the shopping cart and pretended to sleep for a good minute.
-She snuggles now which is weird because she never was big on that!
-She always has to be wearing socks or shoes or something fancy like beads or my watch...she is ALL about the accessories!
-She now sleeps with 2 taggie blankies, 1 lamb plush blankie, yellow handmade blankie, elmo, glowworm and a bear that says the lords prayer...she loves her lovies!

And in other news, Addison is getting a little cousin this summer!!! Alex's sister is expecting and is due late summer...I didn't think Addison would be getting a cousin any time in the near future so this is so exciting! Congrats to Auntie Danielle!

What a busy past few weeks! The excitement hasn't stopped since Alex's birthday! A week ago I began a nursing assistant course (which I need in order to apply to nursing school in January) so I get up at 5:30am every morning and drive an hour to class then don't get home until 4:30 or 5, needless to say I am wiped. Alex does not work Tuesday-Thursday so him and Addison have had some great father daughter bonding time. He sends me texts and picture message updates throughout the day and my heart aches, I just want to get home to the two of them! Monday and Friday Addison has been going to an in home daycare and she LOVES it! There are about 5 other kids and 2 adults so she gets a lot of attention and peer interaction. There is a little 21 month old boy that follows her around like a lost little puppy dog and I guess they do everything together, so cute! When I come to pick her up she lights up, gives me a big hug and then goes right back to playing with her buddies...She gets a "report card" each day that lists what she ate, how many times she pooped and peed, how her temperment was and what her favorite activities of the day were. It is the cutest thing EVER! My little superstar already :)

Ever Changing

Addison changes so much every day that some days I look at her and wonder where my little baby went. I am so proud of her but sad at the same time that its only a matter of time before she hates me in her teenager angst years :( I can't imagine ever fighting with her, she is so sweet and so beautiful and even when she is acting naughty I continue to love her more. New things she does:
-Climbs into every cabinet in the kitchen and shuts the door then swings it open "PEEKABOO!"
-Applauds for herself
-Barks at the dogs and knows what elephants and monkeys say
-As of today refuses to sit in a shopping cart like a good girl. I am now the mother that lets her child ride and walk around in the bed of the cart. It is just so much easier than walking through the store with her screaming at the top of her lungs :-/ She did manage to smoosh everything that we had in the cart but I got my shopping done!
-Kicks the wall and throws all of her blankies out of her crib to let me know that she is awake in the morning
-Knows how to turn around and sit down in her Dora chair and high chair
-Tells me when she wants to eat or is thirsty
-Pushes everything she can...her favorite is to push around her dolly stroller
-When I tell her "No!" She shakes her head and tells me "doh doh!"
-Gives the best kisses (sorry Alex haha)
-She is now scared of her 7ft giraffe Harold...he is currently occupying the office as she freaked when we put him in her room. She points at him and whines when she sees him.

Today Addison and I finally made it to Toys R Us to pick up the play kitchen that her Great-Grandma J gave her for her bday! Alex and I put it together tonight...well I put the stickers on and Alex did the hard work ;) She is going to love it when she sees it in the morning! We also got a little baby doll stroller for her dolly but right now Addison just likes to push it around and gets mad when I put anything in it, what a goof! MY big purchase at Toys R Us was a baby harness. I never EVER thought I would be the parent that essentially puts their child on a leash but Addison is so fast now adays that I fret whenever we are out in public that she may just disappear. I finally gave in and bought it today and its actually pretty cool, its a backpack that harnesses in two places in the front with a detachable "leash" on the back. I can keep an eye on her now AND she can carry her snacks and toys in it too :) Multipurpose!

Little Miss Personality

Addison is really starting to become her own person and it seems like everyday she has learned something completely new. She says hi, ball, woof woof (when she sees the dogs), quack quack, dada and calls me "baba". It's so cute because she tries so hard to say mama when I ask her who I am but she can't seem to get the "M" sound down quite yet.
Yesterday we had a park playdate with our playgroup and Addison spent most of her time pushing around a play car, didn't want to ride IN it just push it around...Her friend Charlotte hopped on and Addison pushed her around for quite awhile, it was hilarious!

Last night my dear friend Michelle and her daughter Bryar (15 months) came over to our new house for dinner and to catch up. Addison and Bryar had SUCH a good time together...they played hide and seek in the kitchen cabinets, sat on eachothers laps, gave hugs and kisses to one another and by the end of the night were head butting eachother and belly laughing! It's so nice to have such wonderful friends for both Addison and I!

We are finally "moved in" to our new house...I use that phrase lightly as the first 4 nights we slept on the floor and just last night brought over our mattress but we still have no furniture, like we literally sit on the living room floor for meals, movies and unpacking...Addison of course has her pack n play, comfy Dora chair and high chair so Alex and I are uber jelous!

Thursday 10/29 we got the keys to our house!!!!!!!!

Miss Addison was ELMO for Halloween and it was HILARIOUS! We went to a Halloween party for our playgroup and all of the kids looked adorable but poor Addison was followed around by a few kids who are obsessed with Elmo haha.

Yesterday Addison, Alex and I did a walk in Tempe to benefit Autism research. A friend from moms group was looking for friends to walk with and we were all about it! Exercise, free donuts and all for a good cause! Yesterday was unfortunately unseasonably warm and we were pretty beat by the end of the 3 mile walk...it didn't help that each of us had a stroller, 20+pound kid and diaper bags to haul around :)

Schnepf Farms

Today we had a wonderful time with playgroup friends at Schnepf Farms! We spent quite a while in the playground area of the farm and the kiddos had a blast, although Miss Addison is still not a fan of the swing, as soon as I put her in she starts whining and reaching to get out. She has never been a swing girl but I thought she would eventually get over it, baby steps I guess! Addison got to see lots of farm animals including a cow, pig, goats, chickens and peacocks! Wait peacocks dont belong on a farm! Apparently here they do :) She also got to pet 3 of the baby pigme goats! She was so gentle with them and laughed the whole time. Her other 3 playgroup friends joined her and they all terrorized the poor goats together, it was actually pretty funny seeing 3 goats and 4 kids chasing eachother around! After 3 hours of fun we had lunch of corn on the cob (Addison is NOT a fan) and cornbread yum yum! What a perfect day!

Autumn is here!

Today we went to a little pumpkin patch/farm with our playgroup and we decorated pumpkins, met cows, turkeys and goats and got very VERY dirty! Addison picked out her very own little pumpkin in the pumpkin patch and I decorated it for her while she ran around with her friends. Playgroups have such a different dynamic now that the kids are at a more independent age. I thought I would have more time to talk to the other moms but it seems like I have less as every baby is running in a different direction! We did have fun though after I got over my obsession with trying to keep Addison clean...she wasn't having it and it was more work for me trying to prevent the mess than just clean it up after! I love finding little places like this one, it's like a diamond in the rough!

Molars

Addison has been super crabbified these past few weeks and it is really starting to take a toll on Mommy and Daddy. Her first 8 teeth came in without a hitch, just lots of drool and finger chewing...these molars on the other hand are giving us a run for our money and Addison is miserable. She has molar bulges on top and bottom, one side of her gum is even black and blue from the sheer pressure of these monsters! I noticed this morning that the first little bit of her bottom right molar has made its entrance but we still have 3 more to go and can't wait for it to be over! She is having a hard time sleeping, screams a lot of the day and in general is quite the crab apple, but I dont blame her!
In happier news, I took Addison on Wednesday for her 12 month checkup (can you believe it!) and the doctor was thrilled with everything she is doing and so happy that Addison is now in the 25th% for weight!!! A huge jump from her 9 month appointment when she was just barely in the 5th%. Her stats are:
19 pounds 13 oz
29.5" tall
The appointment went really well but I wasn't too thrilled when she told me that we need to start weening Addison off of the bottle and by 15 months it should be no more...uh oh! This should be interesting...

Camera Woes

I am so bummed, during our move I somehow lost or misplaced the cord that connects my camera to my computer...I have so many adorable birthday pics of Addison and an amazing video of her walking that I want to upload but can't! BOOOOO! I just ordered a new one today so hopefully it will arrive within the next week or so. Addison apologizes to all of her fans for her moms stupidity and promises to get the pictures up soon ;)
I am still having a hard time believing that my little lovie is ONE! We had a fun and quiet family day on Add's birthday. Alex had the day off work so we both greeted her bright and shiny face with a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY!, opened some of her presents, took her to breakfast (french toast and hashbrowns, yum!) then she took her birthday nap, next it was off to San Tan Mall to play in the outdoor splashpad and playground (Alex had never seen her play here and thought it was a hoot!), we treated her to Dairy Queen then went home for another birthday nap, her favorite dinner (pizza!) and birthday cake! Addison ate almost the entire top layer of her cake but daddy stopped her before she made herself sick...after that she was bouncing off the walls and was singing to herself in her crib for about an hour before falling asleep, SO funny and cute! The pictures are a crack up but alas they are stuck on my camera for now :(
Tomorrow is Addison's 1 year checkup with our favorite pediatrician Dr. Demetz! I am excited to get Addison's "stats" and get answers to the questions I have been thinking up since her last appointment!

When I wake up in the morning my baby girl will be 1...I am sad and excited and in utter disbelief that the day is upon us. Addison was born at Good Samaritan hospital in downtown Phoenix on Tuesday September 30, 2008 at 4:02 pm. I was in labor the previous day on and off, I had my iron infusion in the morning and my OB checkup in the afternoon. I had made no progress from the previous week and I was in tears thinking she would never come out. I wasn't due until October 10 so I tried to ignore the labor pains that day. I never fell asleep that night, tossing and turning with contractions coming anywhere from every 2-5 minutes taking my breath away. Three showers later I woke up Alex at 4am and told him I might be in labor. He fell soundly back asleep while I took another shower to calm my nerves and ease the pain. When I got out I crawled back into bed and was going to try and fall asleep when out lovely lab jumped up on our bed with a dead mouse in his mouth. I screamed and Alex went flying out of bed thinking my labor was all a dream..no my friend it's very real and you better get me to the friggin hospital before I kill someone!
We made the hour long drive from Queen Creek to Phoenix,arriving at the hospital around 5:45am. We checked into OB triage and I was at about 2 cm. They suggested I "walk around" for a bit to move things a long but that is the LAST thing I wanted to do! I waddled down to the cafeteria with Alex so he could eat breakfast and within 20 minutes the pain was mindnumbing and I could barely get back upstairs to my triage bed. Within that time I had dilated to 3cm, was given morphine per my adamant requests and then moved to my birthing room. Alex called all of our family to let them know this was the "real thing" while I got my epidural and hooked up to all sorts of fun machines.
At 11 am the dr broke my water and an hour later I was at 8 cm! By 3:30 I was pushing and at 4:02pm Addison Josephine Pelissero-Grieger was born. She was amazing and continues to become more amazing with each passing day. She is the love of my life and sometimes the only reason I get up in the morning or go to work or continue with school...I want her to have everything she needs and wants, never go without. I love you my little snookie!!!

Milestones

So I don't want to be one of "those" parents who over exaggerates something that could have been a milestone but after careful consideration I have decided that Addison did in fact take her first steps today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was standing by herself, which she does every chance she gets now, she began to wobble, caught her balance and then took 1,2 carefully calculated steps!!!! I know it is only a matter of time before she is buzzing around and it is SO cool! She was also trying out a new skill today where she goes from a sitting position to balancing on one knee with one leg in front of her and then pushes with all of her might and *almost* makes is completely into a standing position without holding onto anything! It's crazy that such a little person can have so much strength!! My moosey will be 1 year old in just 18 days and what a celebration it will be....we survived, she survived and everyone is healthy and happy :)

Our Grand Adventure

I realized today that I never updated our blog after our amazing camping trip! We arrived Thursday morning and got settled into our cabin. From then on it was eating, drinking and nature! Addison and her little friend Emma were SO well behaved and were thrilled to be able to be outside in the fresh air of Williams, AZ. Friday morning we headed out on our hour trek to the Grand Canyon and boy was it worth it! The canyon is hard to believe, looking back at the pictures it looks like we are superimposed on the background. Every spot along the rim gives you a different perspective and a gorgeous view. Our trip was such a nice get away and something we will cherish as the friends we went with are moving back to Seattle next month :( I met Ashley in my Mommys group and we have become wonderful friends. Alex and Ashley's husband James are 2 peas in a pod and we will miss them so much but it gives us an excuse to visit Seattle!!! Enjoy the pictures...

Busy busy week and even busier ones to come...Today was the inspection on our new home and most everything checked out with flying colors (YAY!) just a few things we will ask the sellers to fix and then all we have to wait for is our loan to be finalized and we will have a closing date! We are still trying to not get our hopes up because everything has gone eerily smooth but if it is meant to be it will be! Our realtor Doug was bummed that Addison was at the sitters today, he adores her! After inspection Alex and I started packing up and moving all of our stuff into a storage unit. As of right now most everything is moved and we will move the rest next week. We will then move in with Alex's grandma for the remainder of the time until closing...as of right now our tentative close date is October 15...2 days before our wedding!!! Crazy crazy times!

Today was day 2 of our garage sale and by 9am we were all tired, crabby and hot so we shut down the operation early. We sold quite a bit of stuff over the 2 days and the rest is going up on craigslist and ebay and being donated. Our house looks quite sad and empty but it brings a smile to my face knowing we will move to our new home with a fresh start!

I should rephrase, Alex and I were crabby but Addison was having the time of her life!

I feel like time literally escapes me sometimes, all I know is that at the end of the day I am exhausted and look forward to crawling into bed. School, wedding planning, work and now moving are all part of my week but Addison and I still find time for some fun! We had a playdate on Monday and on Wednesday we brought pizza and hugs to a friend who had just had a death in the family. Today we had a garage sale in an attempt to rid our house of all of the clutter that we have accumulated over the past 6 years (yikes). I think Alex had little faith in my garage sale abilities, he was surprised how much we did end up selling...ye have little faith! Addison had a blast manning the sale and running the security operation in her walker :) Addison's little friend Brooklyn helped her out with security while her mommy and daddy were at work...she showed up in her shades ready to catch the morning rays...so cute! Addison borrowed them later for a quick photo-op...

Addison is getting her first two bottom molars and boy is she crabby. I figured after the nonchalant entrance of her first 8 teeth that these would be no different but now I realize just how big these suckers are and can only imagine how much it must hurt her. She's had two doses of tylenol today and some homeopathic teething tablets. She is napping peacefully now but I will have to wake her soon so she will sleep tonight :( Poor snookie!

I'm laying on the couch with my feet up, the news on and my two right hand men at my side...well right hand 4 legged friends Lenox and Romeo. It was one loooooong week. The first part of the week consisted of playdates and house cleaning and the end of the week we spent looking at homes for sale and the past 2 days Addison and I were at work. Today was busy and there was no nap or hope of one. We spent the morning babysitting Addison's friend Miss Brooklyn then when her daddy came to pick her up we headed to indoor playtime at the Tumbleweed Rec Center with our playgroup and then off to lunch with my dear friend Ashley and her sons Kaelam and Tyner. I thought Addison would conk out immediately when we got home but no she just played in her crib, singing to herself and kicking the wall. I was waiting waiting waiting hoping she would fall asleep because I was exhausted but then I heard a big BOOM, rushed in there and she had reached out of her crib and knocked over her floor lamp...nap time was over after that haha. I got her up and we cleaned the house top to bottom in preperation for our playgroup to come over for breakfast tomorrow...Addison was a great helper, she helped push the vaccum and dusted the floor with a sock. Funny girl :)

Just another weekend with my homies

I worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday this past weekend, Addison was with me all 3 days and was a champ! She has decided that her triplet friends are way too much fun and she doesn't want to miss a second with them so she doesn't nap while we are there, which is kiiiiiiiind of a bummer but as long as she isn't crabby I can't complain. Feeding time is quite comical as we have 4 highchairs and 4 babies all demanding to be fed NOW. I took a picture of the 4 ring circus and I laugh every time I look at it!

And we usually watch 1 Elmo video a day and Garrett and Addison always have front row seats for viewing, this video is too cute!

This morning Addison was getting cranky but it wasn't time for her to go down yet so I wanted to take her our back and let her crawl around. I always feel bad though because her knees get all red and scraped up when she crawls on hard surfaces and then I remembered that long ago I had bought "baby legs." I would put them on her because I thought they were cute but they actually have a purpose now!

I have always been curious whether or not Addison realizes she is looking at herself when she looks in the mirror. I read in some parenting magazine that to test this, you should put something on their face or head without them knowing and if they look in the mirror and proceed to touch their own face or head where the object is, they make the connection. So I tried this with Addison using one of her big bows. If she knows a bow is on her head she will tear it right off (I swore that my little girl would never hate bows HA!) So anyways, we got everything set up and she was completely oblivious that it was her, she did think though that the baby in the mirror was pretty darn good lookin! She is such a ham!

I was trying to get ready for the day and Addison was being a cranky little girl so I popped her into her walker, which we haven't used in like 3 weeks because she didn't seem to have interest any more, and Alex and I were talking about how she never learned to go forward in it which pretty much defeats the purpose. Anyways she must have known we were talking about her because all the sudden she starts walking forward in it and laughing. What a little stinker! We took her out to the living room to see if she would do it again and what do you know she was cruising around like it aint no thing haha! If anyone has seen Wall-E, she reminded us of the people cruising around in their hoverrounds, it was hilarious...Anyways, we videotaped it, of course, it was so cute :)

Addison is in bed, has been since 5:40pm and that is WITH a 4 hour nap she took today from 9:45-1:45. She must be growing again because she has been eating me out of house and home and sleeping a ton. Her newest favorite food is Kraft American Singles...BARF, I must have eaten too many of them as a kid or something because I can barely stand the sight of them not to mention the smell. She can also wolf down a pint of blueberries in a matter of a couple days. It has led to some very blue poop but I'm not one to stand between her and food!
Just Addison and I at home tonight, Alex is at work but we got some WONDERFUL news...Alex was officially offered the supervisor position at PCSO and will be promoted in September! I am so proud of him and we plan to celebrate with something special on his days off this week :) Things are busy but good, we cannot complain!

Time has gone by much too fast and I am just starting to get settled in here in MN, unfortunately we have to leave Friday :( I just talked to Alex and he swears Addison's hair has gotten longer and she looks older, he says she needs to stop growing until he sees her. I would love to extend our trip but its not fair to him...I do hope we will get back sometime this fall, before or after the wedding I dont know but I dont want to miss apple picking and the leaves changing color, it is my favorite time of year in Minnesota! Just thought I would update with some highlights from our trip, we have enjoyed every second of it :)

Please excuse my complete neglect of Addison's blog, I know her fans have been concerned about her. Not to worry though, she is just a busy little bug! Tonight we started packing for our 2 weeks trip to Minnesota (we leave Monday) and I am trying to get as much work as I can done before we leave. For those of you that don't know Addison got a new "ride" complete with 4 doors, cold A/C and her very own personal fan. This past Friday we traded Alex's 98 Wrangler for a Jeep Grand Cherokee and it has been a blessing! Not only was it a pain to get Addison in and out of the 2 door Wrangler but she would always be flushed and sweaty as the air wouldn't circulate back to her. She is a happy little camper now!

We still attend multiple playdates every week and Addison's new favorite place is the Espee Spray Pad. It is a park that has a water area with sprinklers and sprayers of all shapes and sizes for the kids to crawl through, over and under. I wasn't sure how she would do because she freaks out when we rinse her hair in the bathtub but as soon as I set her down she was gone. She was weaving through kids, drinking the water and splish splashing, it was so cute I couldn't believe how brave she was!

No super exciting news this week just our regular playdates and watching Addison become a little girl right before my eyes. She is now like superbaby crawler and can be out of my sight in 2 seconds flat. She still hasn't mastered picking up little pieces of fuzz or dog hair off the ground so I do not yet worry about her eating questionable floor items but I am sure that will be next. Baby food is a big THUMBS DOWN in our house now, she just spits it at Alex and I and laughs. Now she is pretty much eating what I eat, her favorite being nutri-grain bars, yogurt melts, avocado and PIZZA! We had pizza twice this week and it looks like she is going to aquire my love for it :) In about 2 weeks Addison and I will head to Minnesota for 10 days to visit my mom, dad, sister and grandmas. She is going to LOVE Minnesota in the summer time, she will actually get to be outside and we are going to take full advantage of it! I promise to take plenty of pictures!

Today was Addison's 9 month check up and she had the super cool giraffe room again! She didn't grow as much as I had thought but she is steadily gaining height and weight so she is on track, I just think she looks so much bigger than she is!!
Weight: 16 pds 8 oz
Height: 27.75"
She has gained almost 2 whole pounds over the past 2 months but only about an inch in height...personally I think they measured her all funky but I let it go ;)
So the first thing that happens when we get in the room is a toe prick to check Addisons hemoglobin, Addison didn't even flinch, she was too interested in her bottle! All of those results came back normal, YAY!
Alex and I had decided before she was born not to vaccinate her on the suggested time schedule and thus far she had had no shots, just heel pricks when she was born. We talked with the doctor today about what vaccinations we should start with and we decided on the DTaP which is for diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis. I'm still uptight about vaccinations but I know it is important, we are just doing one at a time which our doctor says is totally fine. Anyways, I layed Addison down on the table and gave her her bottle, the nurse cleaned off her little leg and then did a deep injection of the vaccine. Addison sort of jumped at first, her face turned red and it looked like she was going to burst out in tears but she just sort of whined for a second and then kept eating her bottle. What a trooper!!! She was in a good mood all afternoon too! I just hope she makes it through the night without a negative reaction or fever, it looks like she will be just fine though. I was so proud of her, Alex and I even took a picture of her battle scars...

So yes I already posted today but I have to do another tonight because Addison and I had such a super fun day! One of our playgroups did a 4th of July celebration and all of the babies dressed up in the patriotic gear. It was absolutely adorable!!! Addison looked like a total boy in her outfit but it's all I could find at the last minute! She has her Obama shirt on underneath but we found the cute "Born in the U.S.A." shirt at Target for $1 so we couldn't pass it up!

It has been 9 months since I gave birth to Addison and my how things have changed. I can't even put into words what a crazy feeling it is to watch the child you gave birth to grow and learn and become her own person. Alex and I were talking over a late night dinner of Taco Bell last night and neither of us could put into words the pride and love we have for Addison.
She was at the sitters house until 5 yesterday and when we picked her up all I wanted to do was squeeze her and kiss her...she was all like "MOM! You are so embarrassing, not in front of my friends!!!" Oh how I adore her and always will...

Missy Moo pulled herself up to a standing position today! I was picking out her outfit for the day and what do I see when I turn around but her standing up at her music center groovin to the beat. She may have just used her Harry Potter magical skills but I think she may have done it all by herself :D What a funny kid, she goes from one big accomplishment to the next within days of each other, I'm scared what I will find her doing each morning when she wakes up, tomorrow morning she probably will have crawled out of her crib and be in the kitchen making herself a bottle!
Addison is at the sitters house today while I work on homework and Alex is at work. He will be home around 2:30 and then we are going to go on a movie date to see "The Hangover." It is good to get out every once and awhile :)

Ok, Addison can stop growing up now! In the past week and a half she has learned to crawl, sit up from a lying down position, "stand" on her knees and her newest trick is working on her pushups...

It is so funny and amazing to watch her learn all these new skills and watching how proud she is of herself just makes me melt :) I also realized when I picked out her outfit this morning that she had the same green onesie on (in a smaller size of course) the day after she was born! What a difference almost 9 months makes...WOW.

In other news, we have had a very eventful week with playdates and lunch dates with friends, I can't believe it is already Thursday today! We don't have much planned over these next few weeks but are hoping to make a Minnesota trip towards the end of July. I don't know how I feel about taking my little monkey on a plane now that she is so mobile though :-/ I love Minnesota summers though so it is a small price to pay! We love you all so much and thank you for all of the daily support and love you give us, it is truly appreciated!

Addison and I had a pool party today with our mommy and baby friends and we had a BLAST! I think Addison stayed in the pool the longest of anyone, she just couldn't get enough splashing! The pool had a shallow beach type entrance so we just sat there and she got to splash and laugh. She did attempt to start crawling whilst sitting there though and then swallowed a bunch of water but she was just belly laughing she thought it was great! I so enjoy these days with her and hope that when she is older we look back on the pictures and she sees what a good time we had when she was a baby :)

Addison and I had a delightful morning at our breakfast potluck for one of our playgroup events!! Addison was one of 7 girls which is really rare, usually it is all boys! She just had a blast as most of the babies were around her age and physical skill level. She spent the time rolling around, stealing other kids bottles, eating napkins, pulling hair and making kids cry...thats my girl!
What I didn't expect was what happened as I had just gotten a big ol plate of food and set it next to me. So I'm chatting with my mommy friend semi conscious of my plate of goodies next to me but none of the kids are big crawlers yet so I wasn't worried, then who do I see out of the corner of my eye crawling over to steal my food...ADDISON!!! She was CRAWLING, determined to get the good stuff! After that she kept doing it, going after everything she wanted! I was in shock! All the other moms were too, asking when she learned to crawl...ummm right now! It was amazing to see her little wobbly self manuevring towards me. She has still got to polish her skills but there is no doubt about it, she is mobile!
Of course we speed home to tell Alex and I'm trying everything to get her to crawl and she just looks at me like I'm crazy. She finally crawled to get her favorite shoe, what a weird girl! He was so so so proud of her. Each new day with Addison is so amazing and I thank my lucky stars everyday that she is my daughter <3

Yesterday we had lunch with my wonderful friend Jessica at our favorite restaurant of all time: Pita Jungle!!! This place is like something I would have dreamed up in my sleep, most everything is vegetarian, organic and DELICIOUS! Jessica and I always order the same thing, large plate of hummus with 2 pitas...each :) And we eat the whole darn thing! Jessica hadn't seen Addison for a few months so she was shocked at what a little person she has become. Talking, dancing and eating off mommy's plate (that girl loves her some hummus too!) Addison did this hilarious dance in the high chair I had her in, which was totally dangerous by the way, restaurants should really invest in safer child seats. But anyways, I had to tape it because it is what she has been doing nonstop everywhere we go for the last week!

Alex gets home from work at about 6:30 every morning, he stays up and waits for Addison to wake up then brings her into our room and we all laugh and play on the bed til Miss A gets crabby and hungry. This morning we were feeding her breakfast and she FINALLY figured out how to chew! I used to put puffs in her mouth and she would let them sit on her tongue and gag but now she actually mashes them with her toothers and gums! It seems like it happened overnight but maybe she's been practicing in her crib :) So of course I run to the store and start buying cheese, chunkier apple sauce, beans etc and when I try to give them to her she gives me a face like "what on earth are you trying to feed me mother!?!" It's so funny and cute...until she spits it all back out at me.

After breakfast I went and got a few bags of toys and clothes from my car that our triplet friends were SO nice as to share with us and somehow we got started organizing her room, labeling bins of clothes so they are more easily accessible in the future, cleaning out clothes and toys that she has outgrown and disinfecting the room. 2 hours later we had a semi organized bedroom and a lot more space! Addison was most excited with her copious amount of toys..thank you Pelozas!!!!!

Last but not least (we sure did have a busy day) I am happy to report that Little Miss has tooth number 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I noticed it this morning just barely poking through but it's there and in full force! In the bag of clothes we got there was the perfect shirt for today: "Don't mess with me, I'm teething!" Great timing!

Yesterday we had a wonderful playdate themed "Taco Fiesta." Addison was in a great mood, the food was awesome and the company even better! I tried to get in a quick bite to eat while Addison was occupied with other kids but as soon as she saw me with a plate of food she was all over it. I gave her a taste of refried beans and she loved them. Then we tried some shredded cheese, loved that too! Then I let her gnaw on a juicy peach slice I was eating and after the initial shock she wanted more more more! I was scared of giving her too many beans and paying for it later so we broke out a jar of baby food and she spit it at me. Awesome. Apparently she does NOT want to be a baby anymore! Too funny! She loves munching on her bitter biscuit cookies and puffs now and has started drinking "juice" (mostly water with a bit of juice) from a big girl sippy cup! Time does fly but she is so much fun to play with now!

I know trouble is in the making when I text Alex asking what he is doing and he responds with "setting up a surprise for Addison." I love Alex dearly but he has a tendency to get these ideas in his head for projects that A. either take him forever to finish or B. Come out nothing like what he had pictured. Addison and I pull up to the house, nothing suspicious yet. We walk inside, nothing there either. I look outside and OH NO. I see that Alex has erected a HUGE canopy in the backyard over our patio. We get a little closer and there's Alex sitting in a Addison sized play pool. It was pretty much the cutest thing ever. He was so excited to show it off to her that we just stripped her down right there and they played and played and played. Now I wont be so nervous when he says he has a "surprise" for us because this one was actually really thoughtful and turned out great :)

I don't know where the last week has gone but just wanted to update and let everyone know we haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I would say that because of the holiday weekend I have my days all screwed up but I haven't known what day it is since becoming a mommy. Probably the reason why Addison never has the right "day of the week" bib on.
Addison spent memorial day at a sitters so mommy and daddy could have some fun with college friends. It was a nice relaxing day by the pool with friends and plenty of cold Corona but I did look at Alex mid-party and say, "I really don't miss this." It's hard acting like your 18 again ;)
Tuesday marked the beginning of my summer session of school and I have been swamped with reading, essays and exams. Addison has been taking 2-3 hour naps twice a day though so that gives me some down time with which to study even though all I want to do is take a long nap!
We had two playdates this week which is a far cry from our usual weeks of 1-2 playdates a day. I think both Addison and I needed the rest though, sometimes home is what we need.
I took Addison to the sitters house today so I could cram in some schoolwork but I spent the whole time missing her. Sitter said she did really well though, took a long nap and was smiley and playful all day. I picked her up around 5:30 and she went straight to bed when we got home, she is such a rockstar!
Tomorrow Addison and I head to work at 10 and Alex will pick her up at 5 to give her a bath and put her to bed at home. I was just putting her to sleep at work but it kills me when we have to leave and I have to wake her when she is so peaceful.

Today was Addison's first ever ice cream social. She got all dolled up for the event in a pretty purple sun dress complete with matching hair bow. Our task as guests was to bring a topping to share, so with 19 attendees the spread was mind boggling. There were oreos, peanuts, bananas, syrups of every flavor, chocolate covered marshmallows, candies, pie etc etc. (Oh I dont have a sweet tooth at all :) ) I had my sundae master planned in my mind but when it got down to it and with Addison's "help" I ended up with a pretty sad looking bowl of melted ice cream and toppings. Funny how kids just take over priority once youre a mom, even over ice cream! I did however share some of my vanilla ice cream with Miss Addison and she pretty much thought it was the most delicious thing ever created. She made a sour face every time I gave her a bite but she opened right back up for more. A girl after my own heart I guess.

Tonight we had some fun at home with Alex, we hung out in the office rolling around on the floor with the dogs and taking funny pictures and videos. This is where the genius part comes in. Not only is Addison an olympic roller but she is rocking really well on all fours and if I am not mistaken, she repeats her name after me towards the end of the video. Just watch and be amazed by the awesomeness that is Addison...

I feel like I'm always the one behind the camera so Alex took this one of us...I think she is starting to look more and more like me :) YAY
